If I have no money to buy the supplies i need what is another way i can practice magick with home supplies or what are some stuff i can use that i would have in my house? thank you, Toni

Hi Toni–

Most spells require materials as a focus for your energy and your personal magic, not as a true component of the spell. So, if the supplies you need for a spell are not something you already have, search your kitchen and spice cabinet for suitable substitutions.

For example, most cleansing spells require sage, but common table salt can be used as a suitable substitute for cleansing.  There is no reason to buy special candles or herbs if you cannot afford them. Study the spell carefully and find substitutes that mean something to you.

Another idea is to grow the herbs that you will need for your spells. Seeds for an herb garden are very inexpensive and you could grow your own sage and other necessary products. Some witches also substitute items found in nature for items listen in spells. For example, a fine sand or even soil from the backyard can be an adequate substitute for salt in casting a protective circle.

The most important thing to remember when choosing spell components is that these should be important to you. The idea is for the components to tie you closer to the Goddess and you definitely do not need to buy products to help you draw closer to the Earth.
