Thank you for your questions. Of late there have been many males asking the question as to whether men can become Witches as well. I think it is because the Craft is very much a female dominated religion, because the majority of the sites on the internet are mostly female ‘occupied’ and because there is Goddess worship involved in the Craft. This however, does not imply that (a) men are discriminated against in Witchcraft or that (b) men cannot become Witches.

On the contrary, the Craft is about balance between the polarity of Male and Female. Both the God and the Goddess are worshipped. The role of men in the Craft is equal to that of women. One of the most influential Witches in the history of modern Witchcraft was a man. His name was Gerald Gardner. He was the dominant influencer of Wicca during the fifties and up until his death in 1964. You may have come across his name on the internet. It is after him that the Gardnerian tradition in Wicca is named.

By the way, asking if something is the real deal indicates a questioning mind and that is a virtue. Mindless belief is not something encouraged in the Craft.

There is a myth that anyone can do a spell and “hey, Presto” something manifests. In real life … Not! Effective Magick work takes training and study – and by that I mean serious training and study – plus, let us not forget, practice. Anyone who undergoes proper training can cast effective spells. Then, and only then, it is the ‘Real Deal’. So, I am not going to disappoint you by offering yet another spell destined for failure and setting you up for yet another frustration. Instead, I am going to point you to some resources (both on the Web and in print) that will get you started with studying the Craft, should you wish to do so.

I recommend the following books:

Wicca: A guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham ISBN 0-87542-118-0.

Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf ISBN 0-7387-0319-2

You may also want to try the following sites:

Angelpaths: www.angelpaths.com.

The Celtic Connection: www.wicca.com.

A further option is to join a coven, if that is your preference.

I hope that I have been able to offer you some insight and wishing you Love and Light in your quest for the Truth.

Blessed Be!

One Response to “Can men practice Witchcraft and is it the Real Deal?”

  1. Eva says:

Someone should point out that wicca is not witchcraft. It is not the same, at all. Wicca is modern, made-up of lots of different concepts and is pretty christian in its outlook. Witchcraft is not, not at all, not in the slightest. It takes one to know one.
