What is Elemental Magick?

Are there such magic as Elemental magic?

Merry Meet Seeker,

Indeed! There is such a form of Magick. It is a very complicated topic, but I have tried to provide you with a brief overview in the paragraphs that follow:

Elemental Magick makes use of energy comprising of four elements namely Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Practitioners of this type of Magick are called Elementalists.

There are two main approaches by Elementalists to Elemental Magick: Some see Magick as the shaping of raw energy into a form and function through their own will, while others view all their Magicks as simply summoning the Elementals to execute their wishes.

Elementals and Elemental energies are neither good nor evil. It depends on how it is used by the Elementalist. Elemental Magick basically hangs together as follows: If a spell is cast, the Elementalist brings raw Elemental energy into the Material Plane where he or she shapes it into a form desired.

Contrary to popular belief, Elementals are not spirits – they are beings of pure elemental energy:

  • Pure Spirit cannot interact with pure Elementals
  • Beings of pure Spirit cannot practice Elemental Magick, and Elementals cannot practice Spiritual Magick.
  • Beings of pure Spirit cannot be affected by Elemental Magick and Elementals cannot be affected by Spiritual Magick.

Humans on the other hand are both Elemental and Spiritual. For this reason we can practice and be affected by both types of Magick.

Blessed be!

One Response to “What is Elemental Magick?”

  1. Beth says:

Thank you for the post on elemental magick. I do have a question in regards that you may be able to assist with.

I have formerly practiced vodou and dabbled in the craft a bit. More or less I have been distantly studying but nothing in depth. I have traveled the craft circles and found myself mostly drawn to Rosicrucian’s as well as Freemasons. In my travels I have had others tell me I “should” be practicing Elemental and Theurgy Magick.

I wish to better understand why a practicing occultist with vast knowledge “might” advise a specific magick.

I appreciate any thoughts and light you may be able to cast.

    Ahava, Beth
