Merry Meet. It is wonderful that you are so interested in the origins of Witchcraft. I am sure many others are also curious about it. . Almost all scientists agree that Africa was the cradle of civilization. And it was there that Witchcraft was first discovered and put into practice. It was from Africa that it spread to the rest of the world. The people who inhabited Africa lived very close to nature. They kept track of seasons, movements of stars and other celestial bodies and most importantly, respected the spirits of the living and the dead. All animate and inanimate entities were held sacred by the Africans. African witch doctors knew which herb would heal and which can kill. From Africa, witchcraft spead to India. Here, it became the basis of Hinduism along with other studies and hymns called the Vedas. The fact that everything we see is the ONE originated in Africa and then spead to other parts of the world, such as Asia and Europe where it flourished under benevolent empires. The gypsies were a group of people who lived like nomads, traveling from one part of the world to another. They were also called Roma by some cultures. These people were skilled in withcraft and lived a happy lifestyle, singing and dancing while taking care not to use any more of the environment than they needed to. The gypsies traveled to many lands and spread witchcraft throughout the world. Most indigenous tribes all over the world naturally know humans had the capacity to change or control their destiny. We usually believe that as children (because its the most natural way of looking at our world) until we are forced to believe that there is an outside male entitiy called God who controls and judges all of us. Fortunately, many of us can see through the greed and ignorance of the monolithic religious “corporations” and have chosen witchcraft over all these artificial beliefs. Witchcraft is now celebrated and practiced in all the continents in the world. Of course, due to the ignorance of those who follow the major religions, witches may face a lot of opposition for practicing the craft. However, those of us who have chosen this path know that there is nothing better than to live a life close to nature, appreciating everything around us while being intensely aware that the Universe will always be on our side.
