How do I become a successful neo-wiccan?

I am just finding out about Wicca and Paganism because my mother kept me away from it all of my life, and I would like to know all there is to know about it. It seems very interesting. What is everything I need to know in order to be a successful neo-wiccan?

I assume that you are over 18. If not, any local coven will normally ask if you have permission from your parents to be there.

There are covens in many areas. Below are some web pages which could help you locate local resources:

There are also many, many books on the subject. I would suggest Book of Shadows which is recommended by many people. I just bought The Witch in Every Woman and am looking forward to reading it. When you consider a book, it is great to go to Amazon.com and read the reviews. Not the info at the top of the page since the author and publisher supply that, but the info further down the page where readers give their thoughts.

When you find people locally, visit and be sure you are comfortable with them. If you aren t comfortable, it is better to keep looking for another group. Also, many WIccans practice on their own and this might be best for you, at least for a time. I ve heard good things about:

Solitary Wicca for Life: Complete Guide to Mastering the Craft on Your Own by Arin Murphy-Hiscock, Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practioner by Scott Cunningham, Wicca for One: The Path of Solitary Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland and Living Wicca: A Further Guide for the Solitary Practioner by Scott Cunningham. Each of these books is rated at least 4 stars, by the readers.

Rose Ariadne: Providing “Magickal” answers to your Pagan, Wiccan, Witchcraft spell casting questions since 2006.
