What are your thoughts on the Necronomicon? I know that it may be more than likely completely fake, but I’ve owned one before and there was something about it that just made me feel like there was something evil following me and messing with my mind. I have studied and practiced witchcraft before but I have never heard any feedback or any credible source tell me whether they thought it was real or not. it’d be great to hear your thoughts about it also…. your website is great!
Hello there my dear, The following is from Wikipedia about the Necronmicon…. The Necronomicon is a fictional book from the stories of horror writer H. P. Lovecraft. It was first mentioned in Lovecraft’s 1924 short story “The Hound”, written in 1922, though its purported author, the “Mad Arab” Abdul Alhazred, had been quoted a year earlier in Lovecraft’s “The Nameless City”.[1] Among other things, the work contains an account of the Old Ones, their history, and the means for summoning them. Other authors such as August Derleth and Clark Ashton Smith also cited it in their works; Lovecraft approved, believing such common allusions built up “a background of evil verisimilitude.” Many readers have believed it to be a real work, with booksellers and librarians receiving many requests for it; pranksters have listed it in rare book catalogues, and Simone Davalos (class of 2000) smuggled a card for it into the Yale University Library’s card catalog.[2] Capitalizing on the notoriety of the fictional volume, real-life publishers have printed many books entitled Necronomicon since Lovecraft’s death.

To the poster:
I’d like to expand on part one of Rose’s answer. Even a work of fiction can stir up the proverbial hornet’s nest if you’re not careful. Just take a look at how many madmen/murderers are found with a copy of “Catcher in the Rye.” I have no doubt that what you’re feeling is very real…To You. When dealing with spiritual matters, if you feel that something is wrong, you’re right. Protect yourself. I’ve seen other sites out there touting Necronomicon as a Black Magick text.
When people apply their energies to a single source or object, that source or object can become charged with that energy and build a sort of spiritual momentum that will catch/infect others. If you are spiritually sensitive, you already know what I’m talking about. A great example would be the concept of reciting “The Lord’s Prayer”, Hail Mary’s, or even visiting a Holy Place (Mt. Sinai, Mecca, etc.) All of these represent millions of people’s energies infused over hundreds or thousands of years, and they carry a certain spiritual weight with them.
In the case of Necronomicon, I feel that it has become a favorite among young Satanists/Black Magicians. It’s been imbued with a certain amount of harsh, malevolent energy that you have been made aware of. Think of it like malicious software; without the proper virus protection, your computer may be infected just by opening the file.
The best remedy would be to find a protection spell/ritual that you feel attracted to, and perform it with all of your heart every day.
We will never be presented with anything which we cannot handle…this is the nature of the Universe. Sorry this took so long…hope it helped. Sean.

this is a link for you rose. Lovecraft is not the true writer.
I look into this because I also have been studying wiccan on my own time.
Hope this is helpful.
