What is the difference between Pagan and Wicca?

Hi, I am 13 and I am very interested about Wicca and Magick. I have a couple of questions. First, what is the difference between Pagan and Wicca? Second, is there any books you can suggest that will tell me more about Wicca?

Merry Meet Seeker,
It is wondferful to hear from a very thoughtful person like you. At this age, when most kids are concentrating on make up and boyfriends, it is refreshing to hear from a 13 year old who is into spirituality.
The oldest religion in the world, the one which the early settlers followed, is called Pagan because they worshipped nature and lived in harmony with it. Just as people move on to different parts of the world and learn new languages and customs, pagan religion or way of life began to evolve in different ways. However, the most important pagan customs and beliefs are incorporated in many of these new religions including Wicca. Pagans did not create a religion and so they never collected money or built huge cathedrals or fought in wars to prove that their religion was better.
As pagans moved around in the world, they mixed in with the people who lived in other nations and became different types of Wiccan religions. Although the way of life is more or less the same as that of the ancient Pagans, Wicca is now an established and accepted religion. Also, it is one of the legal religions on USA. With this acceptance, Pagan religions now have a foothold in the pantheon of religions. Previously, pagan marriages and other ceremonies were not accepted legally in many countries including USA. Now that Wicca is an accepted religion, Wiccans can have their own ceremonies with Wiccan priestesses or priests presiding over the ceremonies to make it legal.
Wicca is a religion which many thousands of years ago started as a pagan religion. Here are some books you can read about Wicca:
